summer
Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 5:00PM signs of summer:
garden growth, tiny vegetables taking shape...
light and lacy knitting...
a new game for the puppy (not really a puppy anymore at 14 months and 90 pounds!)...
sudden summer storms...
That last photo was taken as my final picture for the 365 days self-portrait project. Caught in a storm on the mesa with Charlie, I could only smile. Walking back to our house (over 3 miles, maybe more like 4, in the pounding rain - thunder, lightning, the whole deal), I grinned from ear to ear. When I say I'm constantly wishing for more rainy days, I mean it! And this was weather drama to the max. The trails smelled so good. So good. I can't even describe it - like summer rain, wet earth, sage and lavender. Beautiful. After almost a year here, we're still finding so much to discover. It's nice.
After a year of self-portraits (a year!), I found myself, at the end, missing this blog and journaling here. Feels good to be typing down some thoughts again. :) Of course, now, a couple of weeks away from the daily photo habit, I'm completely missing that little action and part of my day, too! I didn't really expect that. I think I'll start the Year in Pictures project... not needing to be self-portraits, just pictures, every day, for a year. I think I'll start it today! Yes, I will.

Congrats on a successful 365!
You've also reminded me to try and get something in our wee garden plot...which is only full of weeds right now!
Living in SoCal for several years has made me appreciate rain and storms in a way I never did before. And how the air smells so clean, and so clear, afterward. It sounds wonderful to be outside in the midst of it.
